THE UNFORGIVING CITY AND I
Written as an act of defiance, The Unforgiving City and I is Aahir’s debut book of poetry. What a dangerous concept: to write about your hurt, to go up in flames when asked to diminish. The narrator is young, bangali, and obnoxiously emotional. The poems avenge and memorialize the heartache of growing up as a girl in Dhaka.
Aahr Mrittika is a 20-year-old writer and activist from Dhaka, Bangladesh. They have written for The Daily Star, worked at the feminist coalition of Feminists Across Generations, and are a part of Kotha Bangladesh. They also founded and host the popular South Asian feminist podcast series, Not Here For.
Currently, they live in the mountains in Vermont, studying computational biology and writing poetry over endless cups of rong cha.
