Translation: Theory and Practice includes several papers that were earlier presented at a translation workshop and seminar organized by PEN Bangladesh in February 2003. Other papers relevant to the study and practice of translation have also been included. While a lot of translation is being done in Bangladesh-from Bangla to English an vice versa-there are on translation. All translation is fraught with difficulty because of the different social and linguistic contexts and constructs contexts and target languages. In addition, there are problems peculiar to Bangla. This Volume attempts to offer some guidelines for translators as well as some practical advice. It should, therefore, prove helpful to both amateur and professional translators.
