The human activities are centered on utilizing natural resources and thus interfering with natural environment. It is now widely accepted that there should be an integrated approach between environment and development. In view of the importance of conservation of nature, there is a need for integration of environment in development planning and activities.
Conservation and development of environmental issues are adequately reflected in different national documents including poverty reduction strategy document of the government. This important study report by Dr. Kamrul Ahsan highlights the consequences of development interventions in rural areas. This study was conducted in two non-flooding villages of Comilla sadar upazila and two flood-affected villages of Sonargaon upazila.
